Student Opportunities

Student Opportunities:

  • Student Financial Support

Registration fee will be supported for eight selected students. In its selection, students who come from far countries or submit excellent papers will be prioritized. Winners for this support will be notified in late August. In order to apply this support, please let the local organizing committee know via remarks in your registration.

  • Student Paper Awards

Award certificates and cash prizes will be given for the best student presentations (oral or poster) at the conference. There will be awards for the best student oral presentation ($150) and the best student poster presentation ($150). Candidates must submit their extended abstracts, be the first author, and be presenting their own original work. Students who wish to be considered for this prize must indicate their eligibility when submitting their extended abstract.

  • Spiros G. Geotis Prize

The Spiros G. Geotis Student Prize is awarded for the best student paper presented at each technical conference on radar meteorology. The paper will be judged on content and presentation by a panel selected by the conference program committee. Entrants must be currently enrolled in high school, college, or graduate school. Students who have completed a degree but have not begun regular employment at the time of the conference are also eligible. The prize, an AMS reference book, $200, plus a certificate, was established to recognize Spiros G. Geotis' lifelong contributions to radar meteorology and the encouragement he gave to so many young researchers. This prize can be applied through your abstract submission (there is a check box).
