■要約
The photocatalytic process has been criticized as being uneconomical compared to other oxidative treatment systems due to its limitations resulting from the necessities for light source and immobilization that may increase the overall energy costs. Researchers, therefore, have thought of tackling the aforementioned key issues to economically commercialize the photocatalytic systems, for example, optical fiber reactor, thin filmsand surface modified Ti plate. Especially, thin coatings of TiO2 films on glass beads can be effectively used in photocatalysis for the removal of pollutants, such as NOx and volatile organic compounds, in gas and liquid phases. Meanwhile, carbon-composited and nitrogen-substituted TiO2 were recently studied by three other research groups in which chemical modification of Ti sheet by flame pyrolysis was used for the former, and either sputtering or hydrolyzing of aqueous Ti(SO4)2 solution with NH3 solution for the latter. To produce a more feasible process, however,to support continuous massive production, chemical vapor deposition in a circulating fluidized bed was considered in this study. The fluidized bed has been utilized for several decades in many chemical and environmental industries,as has the CVD. Therefore, these two processes were favorably combined to deposit target photocatalytic material on the beads, in order to achieve our goals. As a reference, TiO2-xNx powder was also prepared and characterized. Detailed experimental results will be published in another scientific journal in the near future.
