In the design of new motors seeking higher efficiency, lighter weight and miniaturization, the application of anisotropic NdFeB bonded magnets is increasing. Anisotropic NdFeB bonded magnets have high magnetic properties, are able to be produced in net shape, and can be assembled with high dimensional precision. These high magnetic properties are achieved through a NdFeB combination of the technology for the anisotropication of the magnetic powder, the forming technology which aligns the magnetic crystals while setting them in bonding materials such as plastic. This paper shall present on the development of anisotropic NdFeB magnetic powder, the development of magnetic powder with high coercivity and heat resistance without the use of Dy which has been receiving attention in recent years, forming dies that use permanent magnets to make high productiving possible and the features of bonded magnets made with these technologies and examples of motor designs utilizing them, and finally, foreseeable applications and the challenges involved in realizing them.
