Cerium oxide has attracted attention for the variety of functions, such as catalyst, chemical mechanical polishing, UV-shielding, fluorescence, oxygen ion conductor, etc. In order to improve the functions of cerium oxide, the control of morphology and chemical composition of the particles is quite important. In this review, recent topics concerning morphology control of cerium oxide particles via solution processes as well as recycling of cerium element are described.
